Tyler C. Cooper, MD, MPH, president and chief executive officer, oversees Cooper Aerobics’ seven diverse health and wellness companies, including Cooper Clinic where he is also a practicing preventive medicine physician as well as the co-author of “Start Strong, Finish Strong.” 

Dr. Tyler Cooper grew up at the renowned Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas, which was founded by his father, Kenneth H. Cooper, MD, MPH, just eight days before Dr. Tyler Cooper was born. Since childhood, engaging in health and wellness activities has always been part of his life.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1994, where he was captain and All-Conference for both the track and cross country teams. Prior to medical school he worked abroad and in business development for Cooper Aerobics for several years. He received a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 2003 and a Master of Public Health in Health Care Management from Harvard University in 2005. Dr. Tyler Cooper completed his internship in Family Practice at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia, and his preventive medicine residency at The University of South Carolina.

He began serving as a practicing preventive medicine physician at Cooper Clinic in 2006. Since then, Dr. Tyler Cooper has spearheaded numerous milestones for the organization including multi-million dollar renovations of Cooper Clinic, Cooper Fitness Center and Cooper Hotel Conference Center and Spa. He also relaunched the direction of Cooper's corporate wellness services with Cooper Wellness Strategies, Cooper’s business-to-business entity. He continues to promote the Cooper brand as a trust worthy source of health, wellness and fitness across the globe. He has established ties with China through the creation of Cooper Aerobics Greater China. As well he has focused on making fitness measurements a vital sign™ of health in the primary care setting.

Dr. Tyler Cooper currently serves on the Baylor University Board of Regents and the Board of Trustees for The Cooper Institute and is a board member and chair of external affairs for North Texas Food Bank. He also currently serves on The University of Texas at San Antonio Medical School Advisory Board and the Medical, Science and Health Advisory Council for IHRSA, The Global Health & Fitness Association. He is a member of YPO and serves on advisory boards as former chairman of the Baylor University Robbins College of Health and Human Services, Harvard University School of Public Health Alumni Board and D Healthcare Daily. Previously, he served on the board of directors for Grand Bank and the Baylor University School of Education Advisory Board and as President of American Heart Association - Dallas Division Advisory Board.

His love and passion for the outdoors and extreme adventures has resulted in mountain climbing on all seven continents and summiting all 74 14,000-ft. mountains in the contiguous U.S. He also enjoys back country snow skiing, diving and surfing throughout the world. Like his father, Dr. Tyler Cooper’s professional and personal goals align perfectly. With his wife, Angie, and their children, Clark, Lang and Kai, his passion to help improve the quality and quantity of people’s lives is as strong as his own commitment to living the Get Cooperized™ lifestyle.
