    Camp Necessities:
    1) All campers should wear shorts and short-sleeve shirts.
    2) Bug spray

    Registration Options:
    1) Online. We are using a new online registration system this year. Use the following links to register.

    First-Time 2008 Registration – First, complete the online information form (including contact information and payment information). Once you've completed of the form, you will be able to view online the camp schedule and register your child for the specific camps he or she is interested in. You will receive a separate confirmation e-mail for each session you enroll your child in.

    SOCCER CAMP
     

    Ages 5-7

    Through drills and practice games, campers work on different soccer skills each day. At the end of the week, their new skills are used in a parent/child game that everyone is encouraged to participate in. Upon arrival at camp, each child receives a soccer ball and a camp T-shirt.

    Meet the Coach
    CFC's soccer professional, Diego Hincapie, has more than 20 years of coaching experience and 30 years as a player. He has a national coaching license from the U.S. Soccer Federation. Diego played high school soccer in Panama, Republic of Panama, and NCAA college soccer at Texas Tech University. Diego currently coaches for the Dallas STING.

    BASKETBALL CAMP

    Ages 5-12

    Coleman Crawford’s Better Hoops Program will enhance the basketball skills of your children in a progressive, yet fun way. Children learn shooting, ball handling, and passing and defensive skills, as well as improve their general knowledge of the game. Each child receives a basketball and a camp T-shirt.

    Meet the Coach
    CFC Basketball Pro Coleman Crawford has 30 years of coaching experience with some of the top coaches and schools that have played in the NCAA tournament. He has coached at both the collegiate and high school levels, and is passionate about teaching the fundamentals necessary to become a great basketball player. Coleman has a bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama and a master's degree from Delta State University.

    TENNIS CAMP

    Ages 7-12

    Level I – for beginners

    Level II – for any student who has participated in Level I or who already has basic skills

    Camps focus on the basic strokes including backhand, forehand, serve, overhead, and volley. After proper technique is learned, campers are shown how to use the strokes in play. While increasing participants' general knowledge of tennis, various strategies will also be taught. A Speed Ball program helps improve campers' skills.

    Fee includes: tennis balls, a camp T-shirt, and use of a racket if needed.

    Meet the Coach
    Head Coach Frank Valerio is a certified USPTR Professional who has coached for more than 20 years on many different levels. He coached the junior-varsity team at Hockaday and the varsity team at Trinity Christian Academy, where he is credited with two state championships. Frank also coached at the collegiate level and is highly ranked in the USTA Texas Senior Singles Section.

    SELF DEFENSE CAMP

    Ages 8-14

    Self Defense Camp gives children the skills necessary to properly protect themselves and avoid unsafe situations. Coaches will teach your child punches, kicks, blocks, tumbling, and evasive techniques. Martial arts is also emphasized. All skills taught are safe and applicable for children of all ages. Participants will learn non-physical aspects of self defense as well as discipline and communication skills.

    Fee includes a camp T-shirt. Special uniforms are not required.

    Meet the Coach
    Mike Proctor, Cooper Fitness Center martial arts pro, has more than 40 years of experience. A founding member of the Texas Black Belt Commission, he serves on several boards including The American Karate and Tae Kwon Do organizations. Mike worked as a certified juvenile probation officer for 14 years.

    TRIATHLON CAMP

    Ages 7-14

    Triathlon Camp teaches the fundamental skills of swimming, cycling, and running, and instills the confidence to finish a triathlon. Campers learn and practice triathlon elements including swim to bike and bike to run transitions; bike safety and basic handling; and more.

    No prior triathlon experience is necessary to participate in the camp. Campers must have swim goggles, a bicycle and helmet, and running shoes. Campers should also be comfortable in water and able to swim one length of the pool.

    Fee includes a "Training Tips for Parents" packet, water bottle, camp T-shirt, and awards.

    Meet the Coach
    Cooper Fitness Center Running Pro Diane Proud has coached children and adults, from beginners to marathoners. She is also a certified USA Triathlon Coach. Diane has more than 25 years of running experience and is a competitive triathlete and duathlete with national and world championship titles.

    TEEN FITNESS CLINIC

    Ages 12-16

    Specifically geared for young adults ages 12 to 16, this four-week clinic empowers teens to make positive lifestyle changes that enhance their overall wellness.

    The first 30 minutes of each session is devoted to important nutrition and exercise tips. A fun 60-minute workout follows, emphasizing cardiovascular exercise and various modes of resistance training. This clinic is the perfect opportunity to make the summer an active one for your teen.

    Meet the Trainers
    Two Cooper Fitness Center senior trainers, Carla Sottovia, Ph.D., and Debi Wilkins, instruct the clinic. With more than 20 years experience in personal training, Carla also has instructed hundreds of fitness professionals around the world, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Carla was IDEA personal trainer of the year in 2005. Debi, who has more than 10 years of personal training experience, received her bachelor's in exercise physiology and a master’s in sports fitness management. She also has a variety of personal training certifications for working with young adults and children.

    NEW IN 2008 – FOOD AND FIT CAMP

    Ages 8-12

    As the name suggests, Food and Fit Camp teaches children about the basic fundamentals of exercise and nutrition. More importantly, campers have the opportunity to put these fundamentals to practice by participating in fun boot camp style workouts and learning hands-on how to make healthy snacks. Short educational talks will cover exercise and nutrition guidelines and other kid-friendly health information.

    Meet the Instructors
    Meridan Zerner, M.S., R.D., L.D., Cooper Clinic dietitian, and Cooper Fitness Center Personal Trainer Kristen Wells will lead the camp. With more than 20 years experience in health and fitness, Meridan specializes in weight management, exercise and sports nutrition, cardiovascular health, and nutrition through the life cycle. She is also a group exercise instructor at Cooper Fitness Center. Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education health (pre-K through 12) and has multiple fitness certifications. She specializes in cardiovascular and resistance training, sport-specific training, and training programs for special populations.
