Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Elana is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Cooper Clinic. Elana earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from The University of Texas at Austin, where she also completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics.

Prior to joining Cooper Clinic in 2007, Elana spent 10 years working at Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas and John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. While there, she worked with patients living with diabetes.

In 2013, Elana became a Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC) and works collaboratively with her patients to help them reach their wellness goals. She is passionate about coaching patients and believes in their ability to improve their lifestyle, achieve greatness and live their best life.

Though Elana’s specialty is diabetes, she is also trained in cardiovascular health and weight management. She is a member of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Wellcoaches School of Coaching.

Elana enjoys speed walking, strength training and staying active. She is the youngest of five girls and her parents, both in their 80s, are still physically fit and active. Elana often uses her parents’ health habits as examples for her patients to emphasize it is never too late to change and become healthy. One of her favorite Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper quotes is, “Age fast, age slow - it’s up to you.”
