Camp Health & Safety Guidelines

View All Section Pages

Our campers' health and safety are always our top priority. Given the guidance that open air is better at preventing the spread of COVID-19, Cooper Fitness Center has the benefit of our 30-acre campus with an abundance of outdoor space including four tennis courts and two pools. In addition, in compliance with state guidelines for day youth camp operators, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and American Camp Association recommendations, we have implemented the summer camp health and safety guidelines below.

Daily Health Screening and Temperature Check
All campers, counselors and instructors will have their temperature checked daily and will be asked the following questions:

  1. Are you experiencing any flu-like symptoms (for example, headache, runny nose, dry cough and sore throat)?
  2. Are you concerned you may have a contagious illness such as COVID-19 or the flu?
  3. Are you concerned you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19?
  4. Is anyone in your household currently under quarantine?

FIT & FUN DAY CAMPS

  • Masks required to be worn by campers and camp staff during drop-off and pickup and at all times indoors
  • Increased sanitization procedures to ensure surfaces and equipment are sanitized many times throughout the day
  • Frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer use between activities
  • Organizing groups into smaller “cohorts” or “leagues”
  • Utilizing additional gathering areas to allow for physical distancing of campers and their personal items during breaks and lunch
  • Enhanced employee training

TENNIS CAMPS

  • Each camper must provide his/her own tennis racquet to minimize contact between campers
  • Each camper is assigned a separate ball caddy as campers will not be permitted to touch tennis balls with their hands; the caddy will be disinfected at the beginning and end of camp
  • Masks are recommended, but not required
  • Hand sanitizer will be administered by the instructor at the beginning and end of camp and at each water break

SWIM LESSONS

  • Maintaining six-foot lane width in pools
  • Maintaining appropriate physical distancing between swimmers
  • All pool equipment used is sanitized before and after use
  • Swimmers must bring their own towels (towels will not be provided)
  • Swimmers and instructors must wash or disinfect their hands at the beginning and end of class
  • Instructors can get into the water with a swimmer on a 1:1 basis
  • Instructors must be on opposite ends (outermost lane) of pool if instructing at the same time
  • Instructors must wear a mask while in close proximity to swimmers
  • Lessons are staggered in 15-minute increments to allow time for physical distancing and equipment sanitization
